September 25 - Bargaining Update

Saturday September 25, 2021, was another long day at the bargaining table.  Catholic Health did not have anything for us to review until approximately 12:30 pm.  We spent most of the day in small group discussions related to staffing and wage scales.  Developing new wage scales is slow, deliberate work so we were careful as we moved through.

CWA continues to work towards negotiating four common wage scales that cross system lines.  There would be one scale for all registered nurses, one scale for technical employees, one scale for clerical employees and one scale for service employees.  Catholic Health has committed to negotiating a wage scale for our members at Kenmore Mercy Hospital in the technical unit and at St. Joseph campus in the service unit.

We also spent some additional time negotiating over the effects that the COVID-19 vaccination mandate would have on our members.  We are happy to say that the number of members that have been vaccinated has increased to 1933 or 85.9% which is a significant increase.  The effects bargaining agreement is close to being completed and we will let you know as soon as we have an update.
